2024 Eye-Bank Young Ambassador and STEM Scholarship Applications Due May 15th

General Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must be accepted to, or enrolled in, an accredited 2 or 4-year degree program and reside within The Eye-Bank’s service area: New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley. If you attend school elsewhere but formally reside within the service area you are eligible to apply.
Young Ambassador Scholarship in Memory of Christopher Nordquist
Students 25 or younger should create and execute a public awareness project that promotes eye, organ and tissue donation and write a 1 or 2-page reflection summarizing their efforts Projects must raise awareness about eye, organ and tissue donation. They may be done in-person or created through social media. We encourage creativity!
The Eye-Bank will provide promotional materials to applicants upon request, and we can also provide applicants with a unique QR code that will track donor registrations that occur because of the project.
Winning projects in the past include a successful tabling event at a school and an Instagram poll that asked users questions about their donor registration status. Check out other past winners and their projects here!
STEM Scholarship in Memory of James Fabian
Students of any age should write a paper (approximately 1,000 words) proposing a method in which STEM might be applied to increase or improve the process of eye, organ and tissue donation. Applicants do not have to complete the research project. They only need to propose a method using an area of STEM.
Winning papers in the past included a proposal to create a digital donor registration badge to “pin” to online profiles and a proposal to increase eye donation through relationship development with eye care professionals and optometry students. Check out other past winners and their projects here!
