National Physicians Week is celebrated from March 25-31 each year to recognize the hard work and dedication of doctors worldwide. The 2025 theme is “Together We Thrive” emphasizing unity in medicine. As The Eye-Bank relies on the expertise and collaboration of physicians throughout our service area, this year’s “unity” theme is particularly meaningful. The Eye-Bank works closely with a wide variety of local physicians from general practitioners who support the eye donation process to corneal surgeons who perform sight-saving cornea transplants. Many of those surgeons join our Eye-Bank Medical Advisory Board where, over a three-year term, they advise and consult with The Eye-Bank’s Medical Director and The Eye-Bank’s Board of Directors concerning the technical and medical aspects of our Ocular Laboratory.
This week, The Eye-Bank featured Medical Advisory Board Member Danielle Trief, M.D. in a joint Physicians Week and Women’s History Month social media video. In the video, Dr. Trief shared that her mother’s work at a school for the blind helped to inspire her to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

The Eye-Bank’s Hospital and Community Liaisons also crafted a series of “Physician Appreciation” social media posts throughout the week to highlight the support of several doctors who are strong advocates of eye donation within their respective hospitals and healthcare systems.
“Every donor honored is a reflection of our shared commitment to giving the gift of sight.” –Serife Eti, M.D.

The Eye-Bank is grateful to have such engaged and supportive hospital partners. Sincere thanks to all the physicians on our Medical Advisory Board and throughout our service area for supporting our sight-saving mission and providing excellent care to their patients. The Eye-Bank appreciates your hard work and dedication this and every week.
